What Each Requirement Means

Valid License and Age 21+

You need a valid state-issued driver’s license and must be at least 21. For most Norton opportunities, you’ll need a valid Class A or B CDL, since you’re moving commercial vehicles.

Two Years of Recent Commercial Experience

You need two years of commercial driving experience within the last five years. Driveaway puts you in a different vehicle almost every trip, so a strong foundation matters.

No DUI, Felonies, or Clearinghouse Violations in 5 Years

The FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is a federal database of drug and alcohol program violations by commercial drivers, and carriers check it during hiring. Norton requires no DUI, felonies, or Clearinghouse violations in the previous five years.

Pass a Federal DOT Physical and Drug Screen

You’ll need to pass a DOT physical with a certified medical examiner and a DOT drug screen.

Fewer Than Two Moving Violations in 5 Years

Norton requires that you not have two or more moving violations within the last five years. A clean driving record is how customers know their vehicles are in good hands.

Extra Requirements for Deck, Boom, and Specialty

Multi-unit and specialty loads take additional training. Deck driving and boom work require hands-on training on the equipment, and some specialty vehicles may require specific license classes or endorsements. Read about driveaway training for more.
