EP90: Merry Christmas from Six-Figure Trucker
90
Episode Summary
In this special holiday edition of the Six Figure Trucker, we highlight one of our favorite stories of the year that we discovered on this podcast. In the spirit of Christmas, it’s a heartwarming glimpse into the life of one of our drivers who makes an incredible impact on some particular children in the Atlanta area. This driveaway specialist/Good Samaritan is an example to us all. She’s also an example of the drivers we highlight on this show every week. We seek to elevate and celebrate the American Truck Drivers because, quite frankly, they deserve it, and we’re honored to bring their stories to light. So, to every truck driver tuning in, thank you. Thank you for the miles you cover and the sacrifices you make to ensure our holiday seasons are full of cheer and our tables are full of yuletide feasts. All of us at the Six Figure Trucker and Norton Transport wish you a Merry Christmas and a season filled with joy, peace, and prosperity. May your roads be clear, your spirits high, and your hearts full. Merry Christmas, and keep on trucking! #SixFigureTrucker.

00:07 Hello and welcome to a special Christmas episode of the Six-Figure Trucker, proudly presented to you by Norton Transport. I am your host, John Madewell, back again to share the warmth of the holiday season with the true stars of the road.
00:31 Each week, we’re here to celebrate the dedication and spirit of the incredible men and women in the driveaway trucking industry, especially the magnificent team we have at Norton Transport. And we wanted to say merry Christmas from each and every one of us here at Norton. Of course, that includes the sales team, the safety team, the logs team, recruiting, onboarding, the account specialists, management, ownership, and of course, all of our dispatchers, the dispatch team leaders, and the dispatch managers. Now, as you know, the American truck driver is a unique breed full of stories that could fill a library of holiday tales. Now, this year on the podcast, we’ve had the privilege of meeting an array of extraordinary drivers, each with their own interesting story. Drivers like Chantel Chandler, for example.
01:24 Now, Chantel is a driveaway veteran who juggles her time between the open roads, her professional kitchen, and her routes as a school bus driver. She’s a multi-talented lady whose success in life befits the kind of people we find every week in this industry. But when we interviewed her this fall, we discovered something that warmed our hearts and we found fitting to highlight for the holidays. I mean, we were honestly blown away.
01:59 You see, Chantel is one of those school bus drivers that sort of adopts the kids on her route. Driving that bus and getting those kids to school safely and on time isn’t just a job for her. No, it’s a mission and it doesn’t end at drop off. Chantel thinks about those kids all of the time. And get this, the bus route that she drives services a number of underprivileged areas and actually picks up a number of children in homeless families. And as Chantel learned their stories, her heart was moved with compassion for them. So, she decided to add another stop to her route. She simply couldn’t imagine her kids going to school on an empty stomach. So, she goes by McDonald’s most days to load up her bus with some warm breakfast sandwiches. And because of this Good Samaritan, there are kids in the Atlanta area who are greeted each day with a loving smile and a little something to eat. Wow. And friends, that’s not a story from the Hallmark Channel.
03:00 This is simply one of our heroes from the world of driveaway that we are privileged to know and to highlight on this show. We’re here to elevate and celebrate the American Trucker. So this holiday season, as we gather with our loved ones and enjoy the festive cheer, let’s not forget the hardworking drivers like Amanda Edgecomb, whose dedication to punctuality and professionalism helps ensure that our holiday gifts arrive safely and on time. And how can we forget Jonathan Green, who turned his life around to become not just a successful driver, but also a published author. One of his novels might just find its way into one of your stockings. So, to every truck driver tuning in this holiday season, thank you. Thank you for the miles you cover and the sacrifices you make to ensure our holiday seasons are full of cheer and our tables are full of tide feasts. Your dedication ensures that families across the nation can celebrate this special time of year.
04:05 And to the dispatchers, the mechanics, and the inspectors, your behind-the-scenes magic keeps the season bright. And to the many businesses in the trucking industry, your roles in this holiday narrative are indispensable. And right now, here I am in Ringgold, Georgia, surrounded by family, ready to indulge in Christmas festivities and maybe, just maybe, a little eggnog like Clark and cousin Eddie. And as I sit here, I’m reminded of the freedoms we cherish and the people like you who make it all possible. From all of us here at the Six-Figure Trucker and Norton Transport, we wish you a merry Christmas filled with joy, peace, and prosperity. May your roads be clear, your spirits high, and your hearts full. Merry Christmas everybody, and keep on trucking. Six-Figure Trucker is brought to you by Norton Transport.
