00:05 Welcome to the Six-Figure Trucker for a special episode highlighting season one of this podcast. We’ve had some great interviews with some great guys in the trucking industry that have turned up a lot of great moments in the first season. I want to share a few of my favorite lines with you in a moment, but before I do, I just want to remind you of a few of our main goals in this podcast. The Six-Figure Trucker has been a great opportunity for us to hear stories from guys and gals that are on the road making money. We want to highlight the all American industry that trucking is and appreciate the people that make it go. Truckers can sometimes get a bad rap and we want to help paint a better picture and a more accurate picture. In the process, we’d like to be a resource for truckers. We hope that drivers over the road will enjoy this podcast and maybe pick up a tip or two along the way. If a wild story from a fellow driver puts a smile on your face, hey, we’d call that a win. And if a piece of advice helps put six figures in your pocket, well, I bet you’d call that a win as well. Check out some of these lines from our first 10 episodes that may inspire you to go back and listen to them again.

01:18 Oh, I just throw out there what I hear every day. No, Master P or Michael Norton. Favorite words. Let’s go.

01:27 Let’s go, baby.

01:28 Ah, let’s go.

01:30 I love it, man. I love it. I you know, I wear my headset. So, they like, “Hey, you’re a trucker.” And then that’s it. It takes off from there, you know, whether it’s a bar, restaurant. So, it’s kind of cool. It’s like being a cop or a soldier or a trucker. Everybody’s like, “Thank you for your service.” Or I know a trucker. My uncle’s a trucker, so I don’t know. It works out. I like it.

01:51 Yeah. You respected, you know, you get that that badge of honor.

01:55 And I love driving. I love seeing the country. I love interacting with people.

02:03 When I was a kid, I see my grandfather and my uncles, they all they drove trucks and I wanted to be a truck driver as a kid. You know, it always been my dream to be a truck driver. So, I’m really just following my dream.

02:14 We were through the negotiation and he said, “You don’t sound like a truck driver. You sound like a businessman.” And I said, “You can’t be a truck driver without being a businessman. You cannot do what we do if you aren’t a businessman.”

02:28 That’s absolutely true.

02:30 You know, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had drivers, “Hey, man, you make any money doing that?” And I tell them all, “Hey, I make more money doing this than I ever have my whole life.” Three years ago, I made 160,000. Second year, I made 150. And this year with co I’m probably going to make over 120 130 140.

02:51 Not only do I have the freedom of my schedule and the freedom financially now that I’m experiencing because of the income, but I’ve got the freedom to say, “Hey, I’ve got a friend over here. Let me see if there’s a load going there.” And eventually I’ll see a load going there, I’ll request it and typically get it. And there I get to go see another friend. And so like I said before, life is really good.

03:11 Always try to do the right thing. You know, someone helps you out, you help them back. I mean, you know, even getting back to Eric, man, when we were first started, he looked at me square in the eyes like, I’m not leaving till you’re leaving. And I was like, really? And it took me a back like, all right, help me with this or help me with that, and I have another 45 minutes of cleaning up. No, I’m staying until you are done.

03:34 I had one of the best instructors this trucking industry could ever see. I mean, this guy was you mean this guy was an atlas. He could tell you every highway in every state, every turn, every truck stop.

03:47 A that’s awesome.

03:48 I mean, Vegas got, you know, but Vegas got gambling, strip clubs restaurants.

03:55 You stopped at gambling and strip clubs.

03:59 I know that’s not where the story is.

04:01 Well, like they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

04:06 And I went up there to the front. There was a little older lady there. She had a beautiful sweater on, like a little blouse. So, I’m complimenting her on a blouse and she like, “Shivery get you nowhere.” I said, “But it always put a smile on your face.”

04:18 That’s right.

04:19 And she said, “You are absolutely right.” She like, “You know what? You staying ranking and I’m going to get to the bottom of this.”

04:26 I love my driver name. It’s Sleeping Beauty. The reason it’s Sleeping Beauty is I will drive late into the night and then get in my hotel. What time is checkout? Check out from hotels is 11 o’clock in the morning. Well, I’ll leave at 11 and I’ll drive till 10 or 11 at night. So, everybody knows don’t bother Larry in the morning because you’re not going to get a hold of him. And Michael Norton decided I should be sleeping with you. So, boom, that’s on my leg. And you know what? I don’t regret it. I love it. I think it’s fantastic. It’s a good looking tattoo. Man, these guys are great. Hey, thanks for joining us on the first season. We’re really excited to keep this going. Keep your ear to the ground. Season 2’s on its way. Six-Figure Trucker is brought to you by Norton Transport.
